In light of the rapidly developing situation involving COVID-19, I wanted to outline how your lessons and services might look different until the crisis has passed.
Yes, I am still offering lessons.
I have a strict illness policy:
--Students, siblings, parents, and teacher will be fever free for at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled lesson.
--Students and teacher will wash/sanitize hands before lesson begins.
--Any surfaces that are commonly interacted with on a regular basis will be cleaned with disinfectant wipes.
There are also options for online lessons or support.
Please let me know what would be best for your family. Your health and wellbeing is most important during this time!
Online lessons or check-ins are available through FaceTime or Zoom.
All my students have free access to Piano Maestro by JoyTunes. This app is available for iPads. All you need to do is download the app and link to me as your teacher during setup. When prompted, my email is sburkett.25@gmail.com
Another resource avaliable to my students is the Supersonics Plus app, available from the App store, Google Play, or for web browsers. This is a library of music by Daniel McFarlane, including backing tracks, online theory, and duet parts.
Online resources are also available through the Student Portal Login. This includes downloadable music and worksheets. If you don’t have a login, please text your email to me at 806.443.6644 and I’ll help you with your account!
Due to the uncertain nature of the pandemic, I am allowing current students delayed payments through the end of December. If you don't have money on hand, or need to keep cash on hand in case of emergency, you will not be charged during the months of Novemember & December, and you will be put on an interest-free repayment plan through December. Feel free to ask me what this would look like for you.
Music and art is the language of emotion. Right now, all of us are facing some big feelings regarding uncertainty and fear. Creative activities help calm us and give us a voice to express these feelings in ways we might not feel comfortable otherwise. It also serves as a distraction from everything facing us right now. Many people are looking for ways to bring predictability and fun into their increasingly home-bound lives. Music or art lessons fill those need perfectly.
If you have been exposed to COVID-19 and are asked to self-quarantine by your doctor, contact me as soon as possible so that I am aware. We can either do online lessons during the scheduled time, recorded videos, or schedule makeups for another day that is convenient for both of us once everyone is well again and outside of 2 week self quarantine.
Thank you!
